About the Software
MG-SOFT SNMP Agent Simulator lets you effectively simulate SNMP networks without expensive and bulky network equipment. Thus, you can significantly benefit from the software if you are, for example, involved in designing or testing network management applications, or conducting NMS training, or giving NMS demonstrations in course of sales campaigns, or evaluating network management applications before purchase, etc.
The software can simulate thousands of SNMP-manageable network devices, each binding to a selected IP (IPv4 or IPv6) address and port, supporting its own set of SNMP settings and variables (MIB modules).Simulations can be run on a single machine or distributed over numerous computers.
The main components of the software are the simulator engine and the management console. Simulator engine is a Windows service that can simulate numerous SNMP agents. To facilitate enterprise level simulations, many simulator engines can be deployed on computers across the network. Even in such complex setups, a single easy-to-use management console (GUI) is used for configuring and managing all simulated agent instances.

Powerful simulator management console
The software can simulate thousands of SNMP-manageable network devices. Each simlated SNMP agent can bind to a selected IP (IPv4 or IPv6) address and port and it can support its own set of SNMP acess settings and implemented OID variables (MIB modules).
Management console lets you manage in blocks several SNMP simulators simultaneously (add, delete, start, stop, assign all their properties,...). Agent groups can be created also by using filtering capabilities over various parameters or, using wildcards and regular expressions (e.g., to display or to start only desired simulated agents).
Simulations can be run on a single machine or distributed over numerous computers, all managed from the same central management console.
Generating simulated SNMP Agent content by snapshoting live SNMP agents
The software lets you capture a snapshot of any SNMP agent (store all returned OIDs and their values) on the network, store the captured data, and then "simulate" this SNMP device by returning these values to received SNMP queries.
Generating simulated SNMP Agent content from MIB definition files
Generate agent snapshot files from MIB modules (in addition to taking snapshots of a real SNMP devices on the network, one can now generate agent snapshot files also directly from one or more MIB modules).
Powerful SNMP agent snapshot editor
Powerful SNMP agent snapshot editor for editing the content of snapshot files captured from arbitrary SNMP agents, as well as snapshots generated directly from MIB files. Besides scalars, also columnar object instances can be added, modified or deleted.

Live agent settings (fully configurable template-based options of automated OID value changes effectively facilitate simulating different agent behaviors).

Ability to simulate SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 agents over UDP/IPv4 and UDP/IPv6 transport protocols; both listening and responding to requests and sending SNMP notifications both over IPv4 and IPv6.
Displaying SNMP statistics for each simulated agent
Computing and displaying SNMP statistics for simulated agents can be enabled or disabled on a per agent basis.
